The House

Pete and Deb have lived at Cliffe House for over 20 years spending many of those years renovating the large Regency property to bring back a lot of the period features so we could share Cliffe House bed and breakfast with you.

Built as a mill owner’s property in 1810 and extended into a ten bedroom house in 1820, the original mill still successful and in operation next door. The house has seen a succession of uses from private gentleman’s residence to a school and also offices. Acquired by us in 1996 we have spent many years restoring a lot of the original features back into the house whilst adding our own twist. We only have three rooms allocated for bed and breakfast so that we can offer a higher level of personal service.

Your room at Cliffe House bed and breakfast offers timeless elegance with facilities to rival the best of boutique hotels. Period features, fireplaces and a staircase art gallery, the house is packed with little touches to make your stay extra special and with super comfy beds, you may not want to leave it! Many of the natural and organic toiletries are made on-site by our sister company Cliffe House Organics Ltd ( and are available to purchase together with a range of soaps, candles and diffusers.
